What we use
url-to-markdown uses localStorage (browser storage, not HTTP cookies) for two purposes:

Cookie consent (
cookie_ok) — stored when you click "Got it" on the consent banner. Prevents the banner from showing again. Contains the value1, nothing else. -
Anonymous session ID (
_md_uid) — a randomly generated UUID created on your first visit to a result page. Used by our analytics (PostHog) to group events from the same browser session (e.g. "user copied after sharing"). It is not linked to any personal information and is never shared with third parties.
What we do not use
We do not set any HTTP cookies. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party cookie networks. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar advertising trackers.
Third-party services
PostHog receives anonymised event data from our server (not from your browser directly for most events). PostHog may set its own cookies if you load pages that include the full PostHog JS SDK — we use a minimal custom integration that does not load the full SDK. PostHog's privacy policy is at posthog.com/privacy.
How to opt out
You can clear localStorage for this site at any time from your browser's developer tools (Application → Local Storage → md.choubari.com → Clear all). This will remove the consent record and the anonymous session ID. The cookie banner will reappear on your next visit.
